The U.S. Dairy Export Council (USDEC) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), both headquartered in Arlington, Va., urged the Biden administration to work to eliminate foreign tariffs on — and nontariff impediments to — U.S. exports, following the March 31 release by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) of the “2021 National Trade Estimate Report on Foreign Trade Barriers.”
Three groups representing the dairy industry issued statements in reaction to the March 17 Senate confirmation of Katherine Tai as U.S. trade representative.

The U.S. Dairy Export Council, National Milk Producers Federation and International Dairy Foods Association issued joint comments on Monday in regard to Canada’s Phase II consultations on its Comprehensive Review of the Allocation and Administration of Tariff Rate Quotas for Dairy, Poultry and Egg Products.
For the first time, the guidelines include recommendations for children younger than 2 years of age.

The National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) said Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI), New Ulm, Minn., won the 2020 NMPF Chairman’s Award for the best cheese — an aged Asiago — in its 2020 Cheese Quality Competition.
USDEC, NMPF commend the coalition of senators for standing up for America’s dairy processors, farmers and exporters.

A bipartisan group of 25 senators sent a letter on Aug. 26 identifying challenges with implementing several dairy-related provisions in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The letter urges the administration to make greater strides to protect these terms.
