SIG Combibloc said this month that it has begun work on the second stage of a plant expansion in Parana state, Brazil. An investment of more than 36 million Euros (100 million Brazilian reais) to install an extrusion line will make allow the company to laminate unprocessed cardboard on-site for the aseptic carton packs.

The worst thing that could ever happen to fluid milk is to use aseptic packaging because the dairy industry would lose those great big electronic display cases that now adorn over 10,000 Class A grocery stores in the United States.

At Anuga FoodTec, a trade show held in March in Cologne, Germany, Bosch Packaging Technology introduced two lines for cleanfill applications. The technologies complement Bosch’s existing portfolio of aseptic solutions.
Lamican Oy sells and manufactures aseptic liquid packaging systems for the dairy, smoothie, water and juice industries. Its new innovative system is based on a fiber-containing can solution offering a new shape for the single-serving package. The company has been manufacturing these kind of cans for almost 20 years. Its production facilities are located in Valkeakoski, Finland.
Anuga FoodTec 2012, which concluded last week in Cologne (Koeln), Germany, posted its best event result to date. Anuga FoodTec’s visitor numbers grew by around 25%, totaling more than 42,000 trade visitors from 131 countries.
