Basil Pesto is the newest flavor in the 100% cheese Parmesan Crisps line from Kitchen Table Bakers, Syosset, N.Y. Other flavors paired with the cheese include sesame, rosemary, Italian herbs, garlic and jalapeno.
Hershey’s Creamery Co., Harrisburg, Pa., maker of Hershey’s Real Premium Ice Cream adds three new flavors to its line. These new flavors — Frosted Cupcake, Sweet Peach Cobbler and Malt Shoppe Crunch — are initially planned for bulk release only.
Belle Chevre, Elkmont, Ala., introduces a new Original Spreadable Goat Cheese. This cheese has won a number of first place awards from the American Cheese Society under its previous name, fromage blanc. The new 6-ounce container has biodegradable packaging and retails for $6.99.
In the last 52 weeks, unit sales dropped 2.8% in the refrigerated juices and drinks category, but processors were able to increase prices an average of 11 cents.

The refrigerated juices and drinks category includes orange, apple, cranberry, grape, blended fruits and other flavors. Lemonade and vegetable drinks also fall under this umbrella. In the 52 weeks ended April 15, total sales in the category were $4.4 billion, an increase of 0.9%. Unit sales fell 2.8% to 1.55 billion. Apple Pie Parfait by The YoCrunch Co. was named the most innovative cultured dairy product at a recent competition judged by dairy professionals. The yogurt-based dessert contains pieces of real apple and a cinnamon-crunch crust topping.
In addition to old standbys like mac and cheese, restaurant chains create dishes like spicy beef queso and Parmesan-crusted walleye.
