Oakhurst Dairy honored its pledge again last year to give 10% of its pre-tax profits to help children and protect the environment. In 2005, the Portland, Maine-based dairy supported not-for-profit groups including the United Way, The Salvation Army, 4-H, the Boys & Girls Club, and the YMCA.

Ben & Jerry's is offering consumers the chance to become an "honorary Flavor Guru and create an original, ice cream flavor. A contest that kicked off last month and runs through July will culminate with five finalists visiting Vermont to vie for the grand prize of having their own flavor join the ranks of Chunky Monkey and Phish Food.
