Denali Flavors Inc. , Wayland, Mich.—Co-owner Wally Blume, assumes the new role of CEO. Neal Glaeser appointed president, and Paul Heinlein joins as director of marketing. The company plans to expand its customer base and move its flavor concepts into new categories.

Chr. Hansen Inc. , Milwaukee—Reggie Jones joins as account mgr. for dairy customers in California. Mr. Jones has more than 12 years experience in the dairy industry, most recently with Evolutionary Ingredient Group, where he was responsible for directing all operations of the company’s whey refineries. Jeannine Farro, Andrea Chopek and Alan Cox join the Human Health and Nutrition business unit for Chr. Hansen. Farro is appointed marketing mgr., Chopek joins as account mgr., serving accounts on the East Coast, and Cox also joins as account mgr., serving accounts in the western U.S.

Scherping Systems, Winsted, Minn.—Pete Behrends appointed operations mgr., for the sales and manufacturing facility. Behrends will be responsible for the management of Scherping’s engineering and manufacturing employees and activities following the recent departure of General Mgr., Jim Peterson. Behrends has worked with Scherping Systems for the last eight years and has worked in the dairy and food industry for 12 years.

Swisslog Inc. , Buchs/Aarau, Switzerland—Remo Brunschwiler appointed chief executive officer. Brunschwiler was the head of the Eurocargo business and a member of the Executive Board of Danzas Management AG. He replaces Juhani Anttila, who has served as CEO and delegate of the Board of Directors since 1996.

Wixon U.S. , St. Francis, Wis.—Siegfried (Zeke) J. Behm joins as a food technologist. Roni L. Eckert promoted from food technician to food technologist. Behm is working in research and development in the company’s Bud Morgan Technical Center, which specializes in creating or improving food and beverage components or entire finished products. Eckert works in consumer products and ingredients applications, at Bud Morgan Technical Center.

Walls
Tetra Pak Inc. , Vernon Hills, Ill.—Scott Walls, joins as new product mgr. of cheese equipment. An 11-year veteran to the dairy industry, Walls is working with Tetra Pak’s current customer base to help them modernize technologies, upgrade capacities and optimize cheese products and processes. Walls joins Tetra Pak from the New Zealand Dairy Group, where he served as the plant manager for the Lichfield plant, one of the leading cheese plants in the world.

Pliant Corporation, Schaumburg, Ill.—Len Azzaro appointed president of flexible packaging. Azzaro will be responsible for leading Pliant’s printed and converted film and packaging businesses, as well as the barrier film, national account and reclosable businesses. Prior to joining Pliant, Azzaro spent 30 years in global sales, marketing and general management at Dow Chemical. Most recently he served as leader of Dow’s global polyethylene business.

3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. , McLean, Va.—Timothy R. Rugh, CAE, has been selected as executive director of the new 3-A entity, by its board of directors. Rugh officially opened the doors of the new entity on January 2, 2003. Under Rugh’s leadership, 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. will manage the 3-A Standards writing process and the transition from self-certification to Third Party Verification and 3-A Symbol authorization. Prior to joining 3-A SSI, Rugh was Executive v.p. of the International Cast Polymer Alliance (ICPA) in Arlington, Va.
