IDFA states FDA must clearly establish criteria for dairy products.

This action, if
finalized, will revise the requirements for when the term “healthy” can be used as an implied
claim in the labeling of human food products to indicate that a food’s level of nutrients may help
consumers maintain healthy dietary practices.
The right tools for the job are not a feature solely focused on cutting costs. Above all, they should enable facilities to achieve their objectives effectively.
The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, meanwhile, said it eagerly anticipates working with Califf to enforce the agency’s own standards on the labeling of imitation dairy products.

The Washington, D.C.-based International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA), Madison, Wis., both issued statements on the Feb. 15 confirmation of Dr. Robert Califf as FDA commissioner.
