The Food Safety Modernization Act Workshop is for food processing corporate and plant staff with regulatory compliance responsibility and food processing corporate plant staff with operational responsibilities for ensuring compliance with government food safety laws and regulations. All Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) third party certification schemes (SQF, BRC, IFS, FSSC22000, etc.) require compliance with government regulations and a number of FSMA requirements are not found in the GFSI schemes. In addition, the newly released plant registration regulations will be covered as well as the anticipated “preventative measures” and “performance measures” will be explored and model programs to address these items will be discussed. Included will be working exercises to demonstrate how to analyze existing plant programs to determine whether they are likely to comply with an FDA inspection/investigation under FSMA. An additional topic has been added on “Dos & Don’ts During an FDA Inspection/Investigation” based on a significant lack of understanding by the food processing industry on when, when not and how to say “No” to a request by FDA inspectors/investigators.
