    Marina Mayer's Marketing Musings

    Il Giardino Italian cheeses and the Wine of the Month Club unveil “The Perfect Pair,” says executive editor Marina Mayer.




    Peanut butter goes with jelly, bread goes with butter and cheese goes with crackers. Ahhh…what perfect marriages.

    However, cheese goes with just about anything beyond crackers, and now, it’s pairing up with certain wine selections to create “The Perfect Pair,” an enter-to-win contest presented by DCI Cheese Co., a Richfield, Wis., division of Saputo Cheese USA.

    From Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, consumers are invited to go to www.IlGiardinoCheese.com to access a wide variety of recipes, serving suggestions and wine pairings that are designed to complement the flavors of il Giardino Italian cheeses. Consumers with smart phones can connect directly to the site via the promotional display’s QR code to access the online entry form or to view recipes and wine pairings. Plus, in-store shelf talkers with tear pads currently feature coupons for il Giardino cheese, found in participating retailers.

    “Nothing goes better with great Italian cheese than great Italian wine,” says Katie Jury, DCI’s marketing manager. “We designed this promotion to make the pairing process as easy as possible for consumers, allowing them to enjoy the flavors of Italy without the stress of finding the perfect pair.”

    While on the website, consumers can also enter for a chance to win a one-year membership to The Wine of the Month Club, Arcadia, Calif.

    Wine of the Month Club members receive two wines a month, along with a newsletter describing where the wine comes from, its manufacturer, storage tips, food pairings and recipes and more.

    Go ahead, test the marriage of cheese and wine, and feel free to bring the crackers too.
