Sour Buddie Bars from Perry’s Ice Cream are 90-calorie vanilla ice cream bars wrapped in a fruit sherbet. The flavors are sour green apple and sour blue raspberry.
At its annual ice cream technology conference this month in St. Petersburg, Fla., the International Dairy Foods Association named the Sour Buddie Bars the Most Innovative Novelty. Perry’s also received the Most Innovative Ice Cream Flavor award for its Red Velvet ice cream.
“It is an honor to be selected for the IDFA awards by our respected peers in the dairy industry. Red Velvet is one of the hottest trends in food right now and our Sour Buddie Bars were developed with a fun, younger consumer in mind,” said Robin Waite, Perry’s research and quality team leader.
Dairy Foods sponsors the competition, which drew contestants from around the country. A panel of 110 judges from the dairy industry selected the winners.
