    Yoplait yogurt lifts General Mills' Q1 sales

    New products contributing to net sales growth in the quarter included Yoplait Greek yogurt, the company stated.

    Yoplait yogurt products contributed to a first-quarter sales increase at Minneapolis-based General Mills. Net sales rose 8% to $4.37 billion in the quarter ended Aug. 25, with new businesses contributing 5 percentage points of the growth, according to the company.

    Darigold, Teamsters lock horns over health care costs

    Darigold Inc., Seattle, disputed the assertion made by the Teamsters today that it walked out of federal mediation talks late Monday night. Darigold General Counsel and Senior Vice President Steven Rowe told Dairy Foods that some members of the dairy cooperative's team did leave the meeting but continued to participate by telephone after they arrived home. Rowe said the bargaining session lasted from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

    Private-label dairy outsells other types of products, survey finds

    September 15, 2013

    Nearly all consumers buy private-label products when grocery shopping, according to a study of 6,600 consumers conducted by Market Force Information, Louisville, Colo. Of the categories studied, dairy products were the most frequently purchased private-label grocery item. Snacks ranked second and cereal and cleaning supplies tied for third.
