• Cincinnati-based Ampac Packaging LLC has acquired privately-held Mohawk Northern Plastics, Auburn, Wash., for an undisclosed amount. Mohawk is a fully integrated flexible packaging manufacturer providing products to the food, beverage, home and garden, and industrial markets. Known for its high-performance co-extruded films and 10-color flexographic printing processes, Mohawk is supplier of products for frozen foods and fresh produce packaging.
• Engage Technologies Corp., parent
company of Spring Lake Park, Minn.-based Squid Ink Manufacturing Inc. and Research Inc., has acquired
EZ-Tek Industries Inc., Deer Park, N.Y. The acquisition includes EZ-Tek’s popular
BB series bottom-belt case taping system as well as its full line of custom
case-taping and heat-sealing systems.
• FKI Logistex, St. Louis, has
announced the expansion of its Canadian operations. FKI Logistex Canada brings
together three existing FKI Logistex Canadian divisions — Airport,
Post & Parcel, Warehouse & Distribution and Manufacturing Systems
— to create a single, go-to-market entity in Canada offering
enhanced, integrated service.
• Georgia-Pacific, Atlanta, launched
last month its Packaging Systems Optimization (PSO) microsite,
highlighting the company’s program to help customers reduce total
packaging costs while achieving greater sustainability with a short lead
time. The site also offers the PSO Calculator, a Web-based tool that
