Lifeway Foods posted net sales of $57.1 million, record financial results for the third quarter ended Sept. 30. This is up 24% year-over-year and approximately 29% on a comparable basis, the highest revenue for a quarter in the company's 40 years.
Each sip blends lactose-free, protein-packed Lifeway Kefir with juicy pineapple, coconut, and banana for a refreshing balance of nourishment and indulgence. Billions of live probiotics work to support gut and immune health, while adaptogens and antioxidants restore calm, focus, and radiance, the companies said.
The event marks the launch of Phase Two of Lifeway's four-phase, $45 million expansion project, a long-term investment designed to double overall production capacity, increase operational efficiencies, expand production hours and staffing, and solidify the Midwest's position as the global hub of kefir production.
Together, the brands launched the limited-edition Trust Your Gut Smoothie, a functional beverage formulated with Lifeway's probiotic and high-quality bioavailable protein-rich kefir.

When looking at alternatives to traditional milk, as defined by Chicago-based market research firm Circana, one category clearly stands out: kefir. Sales of the refrigerated beverages are red hot, with dollar sales rising 23% year over year (YoY) to $211 million during the 52-week period ending June 15. This figure was bested by unit sales, which increased 26% YoY to 55 million.
Speaking with Dairy Foods in 1998, Lifeway's founder Michael Smolyansky stated that Basics Plus was "intended to support the body's natural microflora and to maintain gastrointestinal health, thus supporting the immune system" and represented a revolutionary approach to blending nutrition with science.
