Dairy Foods noticed that exhibitors were promoting spicy cheeses, raw milk cheeses and dairy-based ethnic foods at the 2013 International Dairy-Deli-Bake Association expo in Orlando, Fla., this week. 

New dairy products, like cooking creams and seasoned butters, are causing grocers to re-think the dairy aisles. These foods do not fit neatly into established categories like fluid dairy products, butter or cheese. 

A butter blend, thin-sliced Swiss cheese and a Greek yogurt smoothie are among the winners in the Food and Beverage category in the 2013 Better Homes and Gardens Best New Product Awards.

Lifeway's coconut-chia kefir received the most votes (13,441) in Dairy Foods' Best New Dairy Products of 2012 poll. It was one of 25 dairy foods and beverages nominated by the magazine's editors.

Dairy cooperative Land O'Lakes has developed a new butter-based cooking ingredient used to flavor chicken, fish and pork. The flavors are Garlic & Herb, Italian Herb, Savory Butter & Olive Oil and Lemon Pepper.

Cable Car Delights, San Francisco, and Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery, Websterville, Vt., were among the winners of sofi gold awards at this week's Fancy Food Show in Washington, D.C.
