Fiberglass Handles

Nelson-Jameson’s exclusive solid fiberglass handles are more than six times stronger than standard fiberglass handles. Virtually indestructible, the new handles will pay for themselves by saving the cost associated with replacing weaker broken handles. Weighing slightly more than regular fiberglass handles and about half as much as a stainless-steel handle, they can be used with a multitude of brush heads. The black “hang up” cap allows for easy identification of the solid handle, and they are available in yellow, red, blue, white, green and brown to fit in with existing color-coded sanitation programs.

Part of the company’s new mGard range of modular interlocks protecting employees working with dangerous machinery, the unit forms the link between isolation devices and access locks. XM allows a number of secondary functions following an initial action such as the simultaneous opening of several guard doors around a machine enclosure once the power supply to the machine has been isolated.
Any combination of isolation keys and access keys is possible — Fortress Interlocks, 21 Kenton Lands Road, Erlanger, Ky., 41018, phone: (859) 578-2390, fax: (859) 341-2302, Web site: www.fortressinterlocks.com
Snap-On Closure
The tamper-evident base on IPEC’s 38-millimeter snap-on closure provides a visual security indicator when the product is shipped and at the point of purchase. A valve design is used as the sealing factor against the inner diameter of the container. This design also puts an end to additional costs because there’s no need for liners. The press-on sealing feature enables production lines to perform at high speeds and minimizes maintenance allowing for increased production and more efficiency. To alleviate unnecessary and costly customized neck finishes, the closure is compatible with an existing snap-neck finish. The closures are available in a variety of FDA-approved colors.

Package Leak Detectors
LeakMatic™ in-line and LeakPointer™ stand-alone non-destructive package leak detectors from PBI-Dansensor quickly and accurately monitor packages to provide a reliable water-free leak test of shipping cases or individual boxes containing cheese and other foods and products packaged in paperboard, film, foil or cans. The non-destructive sensor uses trace CO2 gas to detect leaks. The leak-detection sensor activates an alarm to indicate discovery of a leak. Defective cartons are pushed from conveyor as they are discharged from the test chamber. User-friendly graphic icons control up to 16 test programs from a touch screen that provides variable selections including leak and vacuum level, product name and production line address. Test data can be printed or transferred to a PC for verification and archiving. Both systems are designed to accommodate complete shipping cartons or an individual package with multiple components.

Portable Air Heater
The portable air heater from Nu-Con Equipment allows customers to direct high volumes of filtered and heated air directly to the equipment or conveying lines that need drying. Using heated air speeds the drying process and helps eliminate the risk of contamination associated with manual drying. The design features an integral control panel with time and temperature controls, cycle-complete alarm, high-temperature cutout switch, safety interlocks, status indicator lights and more. The unit connects directly to 230/480 VAC. Food grade, USDA-dairy and industrial models are available in stainless steel or aluminum. An electric heater with finned, tubular coils is used to heat the air, which is then pushed through the system with a regenerative blower. HEPA air filters are standard and large, caster-style wheels make it easy and safe for one person to move.

Semi-Automatic Horizontal Loader
Combi Packaging Systems introduced its HL-350SA semi-automatic horizontal loader during Pack Expo 2004 in Chicago. The new equipment allows companies to automate the horizontal loading of product into manually erected cases. This cost-effective solution is for companies that require a high-end loader but have limited space. The Combi HL-350SA adapts to upstacking, downstacking or progressive collation and occupies a footprint of less than 50 square feet. Empty cases are erected and placed in the machine manually. The system automatically collects the product, creates a pack pattern and loads the products into the erected case. A custom-engineered cradle holds the case in place for loading then automatically turns the filled case 90 degrees and releases it onto a product takeaway conveyor. The telescoping feature on the Combi HL-350SA allows the equipment to automatically handle horizontal loads with considerably less floor space.
