Glanbia Nutritionals Inc., Monroe, Wis., has launched a consumer-focused dairy calcium website designed to educate both the general public and formulators on the benefits of natural dairy calcium. The website contains extensive information on the benefits of dairy calcium and its link to bone health, weight management and hypertension. Research recently conducted by Glanbia indicates a strong misconception held by consumers that all calcium comes from milk and a profound lack of awareness that currently, the main types of calcium used in calcium-enriched foods are chemically synthesized. TruCal® Real Calcium from Milk, is a natural source of dairy calcium containing the appropriate balance of minerals for optimal bone health. It is harvested from nature through advanced technology, and can be used to fortify foods and beverages, as well as enrich dairy products. Norse Dairy Systems, Columbus Ohio has earned ISO 9001: 2000 registration for the entire company. ISO compliance was a goal set forth by Interbake Foods for its divisions. Earning the ISO 9001: 2000 registration for an individual plant or a single product line is enough of a challenge for most firms, Norse says, but to achieve that registration for the entire company, which includes two headquarter offices and five baking facilities, is really an exceptional achievement. The ISO 9001 registration was achieved with the assistance of QMI, a leading registrar.
