Recently, Nutrafiles highlighted Litesse polydextrose from Danisco as the “Ingredient of the Month” in its e-newsletter and gave it a high score of 35 for its market potential.

Nutrafiles is a newly launched Web-based knowledge center for health ingredients that provides detailed technical and marketing information to its food industry members. All ingredients in the Nutrafiles database are scored from a low value of 0 to high value of 7 in the following categories: novelty, biology, health, intellectual, market and regulatory.

Litesse achieved a high score of 35 out of a possible 42. Litesse was also the highest scoring ingredient for market potential in the fibers section of the database.

According to Bio2com, the company that created and actively administers the Nutrafiles database, Litesse was so successful in their ranking system because it is widely recognized in the marketplace as a versatile ingredient with multiple health benefits that can be used in a broad portfolio of applications. One of the key benefits of Litesse is its flexibility as a soluble fiber, where its combination of physiological, technological and functional benefits brings fiber enrichment opportunities to a new generation of fortified and functional products, without compromising on taste and texture.

The first health ingredient resource of its kind, the Nutrafiles online database was launched in September 2009 by Bio2com ApS, a global nutritional consultancy firm, and is available to the food industry by subscription. Its goal is to provide food and beverage professionals with access to current ingredient profiles, accurate formulation and nutritional data, and the regulatory status of health ingredient offerings worldwide.
