• Atlanta-based flexible packaging and specialty rigid container manufacturer Printpack Inc. has acquired Seal-it Inc., the Farmingdale, N.Y.-based maker of sleeved and flat heat-shrink PVC, PLA, PET-G and OPS films. “This transaction strengthens our strategic commitment to expanding our offerings of value-added flexible packaging,” says Printpack president Dennis Love. Seal-It founder and president Sharon Lobel will stay on as a full-time consultant.
• Canada-based Women in Food Industry Management has named Debra Bradshaw of Atlanta-based Zep Manufacturing Co. its 2006 Entrepreneur of the year. An 11-year food industry veteran, Bradshaw’s award comes in recognition of her newsletter The Food Newz, which highlights events, trainings, trade shows and Web sites of interest to the food processing industry.
• York, Pa.-based Westfalia Technologies has merged with Toronto-based Deam Co. The merger has created North America’s largest single-point provider for both warehouse management systems (WMS) and material-handling equipment.
Tetra Pak has completed the transaction of Carlisle Process Systems (CPS) from Carlisle Companies Inc. The integration of CPS activities into Tetra Pak existing cheese activities began December 1. In other company news, Blue Ribbon Cheese Co., a new plant under construction in California’s Central Valley, has selected Tetra Pak as its equipment supplier and engineering and automation solutions provider.
3M Microbiology, St. Paul, Minn., has completed its acquisition of Biotrace International PLC, a Bridgend, U.K.-based manufacturer and supplier of industrial microbiology products used in food processing safety, health care, industrial hygiene and defense applications. The company says the acquisition allows 3M to provide food processors with a broader range of products that complement the widely used 3M Petrifilm Plate product line.
APV Invensys, Lake Mill, Wis., has relaunched its identity using a new value slogan and adding a tagline — “the people behind your performance” — to its existing logo, after listening to feedback from customer surveys. As part of its global re-launch campaign, the company will be using the new APV slogan and value graphic on its internal and external communications.
• Benicia, Calif.-based Pacific Ozone Technology Inc. has launched Element Ozone, a sister company supplying ozone technology for light commercial and consumer applications.
• The Target Group Inc., producer of Food Safety World Conference & Expo, has announced that it will merge its event into the 2007 Food Safety & Security Summit next March 6 to 8 at the Washington D.C. Convention Center. “We’re excited to bring these two events together,” says Harry Stagnito, president of Stagnito Communications and producer of the Food Safety & Security Summit. “We strongly believe that one unified event serves the best interest of attendees and suppliers alike and puts the focus squarely on the most important matter at hand; the safety and security of the global food supply.”
