    Supplier News

    August 31, 2004
Scholle Corp., Northlake, Ill., has opened a sales office in Weinheim, Germany, that will sell bag-in-box packaging to markets in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The office, a registered GmbH, will supply bags ranging from 2 to 1,000 liters from Scholle's worldwide manufacturing network. Scholle also maintains a sales office in Aix-en-Provence in France. Initially the new German office will be staffed with two new Scholle employees, Commercial Manager Lutz Schöllhammer, a 25-year industry veteran, and Business Manager Thomas Hoffmann, with 17 years experience. Both men were formerly with Zewathener/Rapak.

Johnson Truck Bodies, Rice Lake, Wis. is introducing a new triple sealing point door gasket that simplifies door opening/closing, and is effective in limiting heat and moisture transfer that enters the refrigerated truck body. Instead of a single contact point, the new TripleSeal™ door gasket has three sealing points - an outer "bulb" that seals against the outer door frame; a center contact point that seals on the center of the recess; and a large third sealing point that seals between the door pan radius and the door frame inner radius.

Now standard on all Johnson refrigerated truck bodies, the TripleSeal gasket has proven extremely effective in solving a special door-opening problem that is created when there is a warm, humid ambient outdoor atmosphere, and a driving rain combined with a dry/very cold or frozen environment inside the truck body.

Multivac, Inc., Kansas City, Mo., has launched a new Food Safety Website to educate visitors on the proper equipment specifications to maximize food plant sanitation. Food packagers now have a dedicated resource offering strategies for achieving hygienic packaging environments, the company says. The resource can be found at www.multivac.com/foodsafety. A leading manufacturer of thermoform fill-seal rollstock, traysealer, and vacuum chamber packaging systems, unveils its new initiatives. The website offers insight on washdown friendly design initiatives and information on the industry standards used in designing new packaging equipment from AMI, USDA and Dairy 3-A.

Metecno-Aluma Shield, Daytona Beach, Fla., a leading international manufacturer of metal insulated composite panels and cold storage doors, has recently relocated the Hercules® door production to its main 270,000 sq. ft facility located in DeLand, Fla.

Relocating the new Hercules Door production will allow for greater manufacturing capacity and efficiency, the company says. New state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment was installed in January 2004 as part of the Hercules Door expansion program.

    Schneider Packaging Equipment Co.
Schneider Packaging Equipment Co., Brewerton, N.Y., introduces a new Robotic Case Packer-Palletizer that offers dairy processors an all-in-one, cost-effective solution for end-of-the line packaging. This new technology combines a case packer and a palletizer into a compact unit. The Robotic Packer-Palletizer utilizes a 5-axis Motoman robot with XRC Controller, capable of moving up to 176 lbs. The machine's compact footprint allows for pallet sizes of up to 48" x 48" and unit loads up to 72" high. Capable of running single line applications, the unit's production rates depend on numerous factors, including the product being packaged, the number of products per case and pallet patterns.

Supreme Corp., Goshen Ind., was recently named Ford Motor Co.'s number-one parcel delivery van (PDV) pool account for the fifth year in a row. Supreme also was once again awarded Ford's prestigious "Top Volume Ford Authorized Parcel Delivery Van Pool Account" award. Supreme offers a variety of parcel delivery van options through Ford light- and medium-duty commercial dealer.

Flowserve Corp., Dallas, a global provider of fluid motion and control products and services, announces that it is now supporting its premier Limitorque SMB electric actuator line with a 10-year standard warranty. The Limitorque SMB 10-year warranty offers the benefits of hassle-free, OEM-guaranteed spare parts; guaranteed Flowserve field and shop maintenance; a reduced risk of downtime; and protection from the punitive costs associated with in-line failure, the company says.
