    Nutrinova, Somerset, N.J., has compiled an overview of its high intensity sweetener, Sunett® (Acesulfame potassium), aimed at providing flavorists guidelines on how to incorporate its sweetener into various applications.     St. Louis based Barry-Wehmiller is among the latest companies to join the "lean movement." The supplier of packaging automation says implementation is in various stages of implementation across the organization.

    Cargill has come up with a unique way to spread the word about its CoroWise™ a naturally-sourced cholesterol Reducer. Consumers looking to reduce their cholesterol levels are being invited to collect and submit one or more UPC codes from any of a number of foods and beverages containing CoroWise™ plant sterols. Or they can submit a written statement indicating a favorite product that contains CoroWise. Either way they have a shot at $1,000.

    Due to expanding business, Nizo Food Research, a well-established research company in Europe that develops and applies technologies of innovations in food and ingredients, has recently opened a U.S. office. Jeroen Wouters (jeroen.wouters@nizo.nl) now represents Nizo food research from his Dehli, N.Y., office to assist the food industry with innovations in the areas of flavor, texture, health, food safety and processing.     Chr. Hansen now targets the market for Dahi, a traditional ethnic Indian yogurt. The company is launching DAC-03, a new dairy culture tailor-made for making Dahi. Today, organized dairies make only 1%-2% of the Dahi consumed in India, but demand for industrially produced Dahi is currently growing at a pace of 20% per year, Chr. Hansen says. More Indian consumers are following global trends, and favor healthy products and greater food safety.

    Ocean Nutrition Canada Limited (ONC), supplier of MEG-3® brand Omega-3 EPA/DHA food and dietary supplement ingredients, has introduced of a new version of the MEG-3® food ingredient with a DHA:EPA ratio of 5:1, which will enable food products to contribute to improved nutrition for infants and mothers. MEG-3® food ingredients have a patented form of micro-encapsulation which is said to lock out the smell and taste of fish out of the food. This means that the new high DHA fish oil ingredient can be added to many foods both children or mothers would normally eat, ONC says.

    SPI Polyols, New Castle, Del., will be honored for its ongoing support of the Delaware Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) at the Chapter's 5th annual Promise Ball on June 10. SPI Polyols is the top corporate partner of the gala. The company has supported the gala for the past two years, and also supported last year's annual JDRF Walk for a Cure.
