Dairy Industry Contributing to Hurricane Relief

dbv

Old Home Foods, St. Paul, Minn., is donating funds to support the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, in partnership with leading Minnesota grocers. Now through the end of 2005, a 15¢ donation from every Old Home Yogurt Smoothie & Light Yogurt Smoothie sold at participating retailers will be made to help support the victims and the relief effort. The company’s and retailers’ donation will be in addition to other food & monetary donations the companies have already made.

The contributions will go to assist the relief efforts of American Red Cross’ Katrina Relief Fund, which has mobilized thousands of volunteers to provide assistance to those in need.

Meanwhile, the Gipson family of East New Orleans is on its way to independence once again, thanks to SleeveCo, Inc., Dawsonville, Ga. The packaging company, which supplies the dairy industry, selected the Gipson’s after offering to sponsor a displaced family in Dawsonville.

The family of six escaped New Orleans via fishing boat and helicopter and has decided to settle permanently in Georgia. Terrance Gipson has taken a job with Sleeve Co. while his wife Angel has been hired at a local Wal-Mart.

The employees of SleeveCo have assisted by helping the family with collecting furniture, moving in, school registrations, healthcare, applications for replacement of all important documentation and licenses, babysitting.
