Cary Frye elected vice chair of International Dairy Federation

Cary Frye, IDFA vice president of regulatory and scientific affairs, was elected vice chair of the U.S. National Committee for the International Dairy Federation. She will serve with Rob Byrne, director of industry and regulatory affairs for Schreiber Foods Inc., who is the incoming chairman.

IDF is a global source of scientific and technical expertise for stakeholders in the dairy chain. Its status as a non-governmental organization allows the dairy industry to participate in the process of setting and amending international standards through the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

IDF members span over 56 countries and account for approximately 86% of total milk production worldwide.

"Our leadership will help the U.S. dairy industry to further its goals in key areas, such as sustainability, health and science and international regulations," Frye said.

According to Byrne, "Having the U.S. dairy industry so actively engaged in international activities through IDF helps protect the interests of the entire U.S. industry and protects our ability to continue to ship U.S. dairy products worldwide."
