Heat and Control, Inc. purchased Spray Dynamics, Ltd. “Spray Dynamics is a leading innovator of equipment for the controlled application of liquid and dry ingredients,” notes Tony Caridis, president of Heat and Control.
“We have successfully partnered on projects over the years and found their equipment to be an excellent match with our own FastBack on-machine seasoning systems and individual in-kitchen flavoring applicators.”
“Heat and Control’s goal is to provide the best single-source support to our customers,” explains Caridis. “The Spray Dynamics line will enhance the versatility of our seasoning applicators, while giving our customers a greater choice of coating systems to meet individual product requirements.”
GEA Process Engineering has moved into the mixing business with the purchase of an existing high-shear mixing technology. GEA Process Engineering companies now offer a full range of mixing equipment especially designed for the dairy, food, beverage and personal care market.
D.D. Williamson launched a new brand image to reflect its expanded expertise in color solutions for customers. In the new logo “DDW” replaces “D.D. Williamson” for a concise, contemporary image. “The Color House” tagline expresses a place where creativity blends with advanced technical capability to bring color ideas to life. Like leading, global flavor houses, “The Color House” provides collaborative science, solutions, and service for product developers.
Star Kay White, Inc., Congers, N.Y., expanded operational capabilities with the purchase of a 35,000 sq. ft. existing facility adjacent to its current manufacturing and R&D campus located in Congers. The new facility has been retrofitted to include refrigerated and dry storage warehouse space along with additional loading docks and new corporate office space.
DuPont Qualicon introduced the BAX System STEC Suite, a trio of real-time PCR assays that enable food processors, reference labs and government labs to rapidly and reliably detect the Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) most frequently associated with severe foodborne illness in the United States.
This suite of food safety tests was developed in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA ARS) and is closely aligned with the testing approach used by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA FSIS).
D.D. Williamson announced its annual Natural Coloring Competition for students to encourage learning about naturally derived coloring. Two winners will receive a domestic trip to the 2012 IFT Annual Meeting in Las Vegas and display their project poster in the D.D. Williamson’s booth at the IFT Food Expo. All current members of the IFT Student Association are eligible to enter the 2011-2012 competition. Abstract submissions are due Nov. 14.
