Lipid Nutrition, a division of IOI-Loders Croklaan Group B.V., has acquired PharmaNutrients’ CLA One® business last month. As a result, Lipid Nutrition reinforces its position as a dominant player in the CLA market. PharmaNutrients has elected to divest of its CLA One® product line to focus on its business of proprietary nutritional formulations targeting inflammation, diabetes and cardiovascular health.


Cannon Equipment, Rosemount, Minn. and Mission Controls, Costa Mesa, Calif., have formed a strategic alliance to bring dramatically improved production processing and technology solutions to America’s fluid milk processing industry. Cannon Equipment, is a leading design, engineering and manufacturing organization with a long history of providing automated material handling systems to dairy processing facilities nationwide. Mission Controls is a national leader in process engineering and automation controls services, including the Vigilistics™ suite of material tracking and loss analysis software.


GolinHarris announced last month that is the new public relations representative for Good Humor-Breyers, a division of Unilever Ice Cream and the largest manufacturer and marketer of branded packaged ice cream and frozen novelty products in the United States. GolinHarris is a leading public relations firm with 50 years of experience. It includes 450 professionals in 31 offices around the globe, including a Chicago office that will handle the Good Humor-Breyers account.


Graceland Fruit Inc., Frankfort Mich., and Milne Fruit Products Inc., Prosser, Wash., are partnering in the production and sales of fruit juices as Graceland Fruit continues expanding its product line of industrial food ingredients. Milne Fruit Products will serve as the exclusive sales and marketing agent of Graceland’s cranberry juice and other new juice concentrate products as they become available.


Chr. Hansen is nearing completion of a $7.4 million upgrade to its culture plant in Milwaukee. The largest single expansion ever in the plant’s history, it will increase fermentation capacity by 35% and complete a five-year investment plan of more than $25 million.


Cargill says the first North American maltitol plant is now in full operation at the company’s corn milling biorefinery campus in Blair, Neb. The new facility, in addition to Cargill’s maltitol plant in Europe, provides food manufacturers with global access to new, innovative sweetness solutions.
