National Starch Food Innovation has received the President’s Partnership Award for Ingredients Innovation from foods producer Johanna Foods, Flemington, N.J. Johanna Foods purchases from National Starch a range of specialty starches, which are used to provide texture to their yogurt products and drinks.

Fogg Company, a market leader in the design and manufacture of rotary filling systems for the liquids industry, has introduced Micro-bloc antimicrobial technology as a new feature available in all Fogg elastomers and lubricants. Utilizing patented inorganic ion-exchange resins, Micro-bloc is a proactive antimicrobial rubber that provides residual protection against contamination.

Silliker, Inc. , has opened a new, 16,500 square foot state-of-the-art food testing facility in Cypress, Calif. The new facility nearly doubles the amount of available laboratory space. Silliker is relocating its staff of about 50 to the new site, about 20 miles east of its previous location in Carson.

GTC Nutrition, a business unit of Corn Products International, Inc. was scheduled to give a scientific presentation last month at the 10th annual International Trade Fair of Technology for the Pharmaceutical Industry, São Paulo, Brazil. GTC Nutrition’s manager of scientific affairs, Linda C. Douglas, was selected to present on “The Medical and Pharmaceutical Benefits of Short-Chain Fructooligosaccharides.”

Steril-Aire Inc. , has been registered by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000 Series Standards. Specifically, UL has certified that the Quality Management System in Steril-Aire’s Burbank facility is in compliance with ISO 9001:2000 (File No. A13253). Steril-Aire is a leading manufacturer of ultraviolet-C (UVC) devices for HVAC and food processing applications.

Kerry Ingredients is promoting its entry into the frozen dessert business via its recent acquisitions of Jana’s Classics, an industry-leading developer of baked ice cream inclusions and Guernsey Bel, a leading innovator of confectionery-based inclusions. In addition to joining forces with Guernsey Bel and Jana’s Classics, Kerry’s Frozen Dessert initiative taps into Kerry Bio-Science, Specialty and Mastertaste business units to provide what it calls the most creative and complete new product ideation and development resource for frozen and chilled dessert manufacturers.

Kwikee Systems, Peoria, Ill., a division of MultiAd Services, Inc., has been designated as the preferred vendor of product image development and management for manufacturers supplying products to Associated Grocers, Inc., Associated Food Stores, Winn Dixie, Coborn’s, Associated Wholesale Grocers and The Kroger Company.
