Kraft Foods has just launched Nacho Splendips in the United Kingdom under the Philadelphia brand. The Splendips Nachos are a reduced-fat soft cheese dip with mild salsa sauce and tortilla chips. Each portion contains only 150 calories and 6.5g of fat. This product is suitable for vegetarians and is available in an 85g pack.

Fromageries Bel in France released P’tit Dej, a spreadable cheese for children. With the fun loving Asterix cartoon branded on the cheese cup, P’tit is said to be a great way to start the day. Children and parents will be attracted to the convenience of the product because it is shaped for children’s small hands. It is available in a 150g pack.

In Finland, Lahden Vientikerma released a multi-pack dessert under the Jacky brand. Jacky Monipakkaus is a dessert for children. Each pack contains eight 125g-tubs of raspberry vanilla yogurt and eight 90g-tubs of milk chocolate pudding. The product is certainly marketed towards children because of the cardboard packaging that can be made into a toy farmhouse without cutting or gluing. Cardboard figurines of dairy cows are also included.

Häagen-Dazs has introduced a new Black Sesame-flavored ice cream in Japan. This seasonal item is made with black sesame paste. This introduction follows the “black foods” trend found strictly in Asia Pacific. Black foods consist of anything from black sesame to black vinegar to black soybean. The health benefits of black foods include blood thinning, lowered blood pressure, improved blood circulation, lowered cholesterol and improved energy levels.

In Japan, Azumino Shokuhin Kobo has introduced a strawberry yogurt drink. This unique probiotic drink is loaded with chopped strawberries. The package comes with a thick straw to let through the large strawberry dices. It contains BB-21 bacteria, claimed to reach the intestines alive.
