This 28 mm push-pull sports cap with integrated whistle is a good example on how Bericap closures can help manufacturers of low-end products make an impact on the store shelf. The idea of having a closure that can be reused as a whistle or a trumpet after the beverage is consumed was co-developed by Bericap and Kofola. The whistle closure does not require any modification of the capping line, but cannot be used on aseptic lines, unless after irradiation.

bioMérieux launches Tempo EB, an automated test for Enterobacteriaceae enumeration in food products in 24 hours, including confirmation. This method offers significant time savings, especially when large numbers of positive samples are processed. Enterobacteriaceae enumeration is the key hygiene parameter in the latest European regulation on microbiological criteria for food, EC 2073/2005. The Enterobacteriaceae family includes important food spoilage agents and intestinal pathogens.

Thermo Fisher Scientific introduces an optical module for its Thermo Scientific rheometer platform, Haake Mars. The RheoScope module simultaneously records rheological properties and changes in the microscopic structure of the tested sample. By combining rheological measurements with optical analysis, microstructures can be analyzed visually to obtain more information about a sample’s mechanical properties. Combined methods are ideally suited for the analysis of shear thinning, dilatancy, thixotropy, aging and emulsification. Data, video sequences and images can be viewed on-line as well as stored in various formats for later evaluation and analysis. Customized user configurations can be quickly adapted in the standard module.
