Seepex Inc. has completed a major expansion at its American headquarters in Enon, Ohio. The addition marks a 30 percent increase in total facility space, resulting in 26,000 square feet to accommodate consistent growth since the company’s last building expansion in 1999. The addition, completed in April, allows for a 42.6 percent increase in factory space and a 20 percent increase in office space.

The Kennedy Group’s radio frequency identification (RFID) unit has entered into a multi-year commitment with Alien Technology in which Alien will supply large volumes of inlays and additional products for production of Smart Therm™ labels and smart cards. The Willoughby, Ohio-based company says the agreement strengthens its leadership position in meeting the demand necessary to service customer requirements. The Kennedy Group currently supplies production volumes to many of the suppliers impacted by the mandates from large retailers and government agencies.

Blythewood, S.C.-based Spirax Sarco Inc. has purchased all relevant business assets of EMCO Flow Systems of Longmont, Colo., from Fort Collins, Colo.-based Advanced Energy Industries Inc.  The EMCO network of independent manufacturers’ representatives will continue serving existing customers and markets.

In July, Crown Holdings Inc. announced that many of its affiliated companies have been recognized with prestigious Starpack Awards from the Institute of Packaging. Eight different Brand-Building Packaging™ technologies from Crown were honored at an awards ceremony held June 30 in London.

VBS International Inc., Campbell, Calif., has acquired Cryotech Inc. of Southern California. The Cryotech office will remain open with the previous owner staying on to help with the transition and day-to-day operations. All current employees of Cryotech will remain on staff. Additional staff will be added to accommodate growth. VBS will now be known as Cryotech International, a VBS company.

AIB, Manhattan, Kan., has expanded its services by adding a food security department. The company says its goal is to assist the industry in meeting upcoming regulatory and market demands by developing food security programs.

The National Association of Container Distributors (NACD) named Novapak Corp., Eatontown, N.J., Supplier of the Year at its 80th annual convention held in April. The award honors suppliers that have made a tremendous contribution to the entire distribution channel, and is one of the container industry’s most coveted honors.

The network of distributors currently stocking One Shot® refrigerant produced by Indianapolis-based  ICOR International Inc., has expanded to 950 locations nationwide. ICOR introduced One Shot in March 2004, and it is now being successfully used in a broad range of system applications by scores of refrigeration technicians.  

Major Inno-Lok™ converter Polymer Packaging Inc., North Canton, Ohio, has increased its capacity to manage current and growing demand in the recloseable packaging market by adding a fourth machine. The company says the addition enhances its production capacity beyond 120 million impressions per year. Polymer also says the Inno-Lok system allows the company to supply its clients with packaging that already includes the recloseable component, therefore, the consumer product manufacturer does not have to add equipment, processes or other resources to their production cycle in order to package goods in pre-zippered bags.

Multivac Inc., Kansas City, Mo., has announced a new corporate focus geared toward meeting the evolving packaging needs of small to mid-sized companies. The company says the new initiative represents a dedication of resources in machine development, service, support and training for customers using Multivac compact packaging systems.

In June, Outlook Group Corp., Neenah, Wis., announced an agreement with Ossian, Ind.-based Aviso Packaging LLC. The equipment and services provided under the agreement, combined with Outlook Group’s flexible packaging capabilities, will bring new packaging technology to the cheese industry. The new technology is designed for the packaging of natural cheese for the retail and foods service markets.

Manteno, Ill.-based Zip-Pak, an ITW Company, has announced the purchase of London’s Supreme Plastics Ltd.’s reclosable division, comprising its resealable zipper and resealable bag business, including the associated technology portfolios. Zip-Pak will also acquire Supreme Plastics’ plant in Whitby, England.
