    Heat and Control, Inc. purchased Spray Dynamics, Ltd.. This acquisition helps expand Heat and Control's selection of coating systems and seasoning applicators and provides food processors with complete single-source support. 

    Nelson-Jameson, Inc.
    released its 2012-13 Buyers Guide for the Food Industry issue. The new edition includes more than 30 additional pages of new and innovative products for the food and dairy industries, including Tingley rain suits and acid suits, Jackson Safety metal detectable earplugs and reading glasses, a foaming boot washer, Focus Autoscrubbers, HANNA Auto Titrator for juice and Lindberg/Blue M vacuum oven. The new guide also features easy-to-use “How to Order” boxes and terminology to help provide customers with a one-stop source to find the right product for their applications.     Internationally Known
    Bosch Packaging Technology expanded its China operations and enlarged its site in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, province to include an additional 1,400 square meters and house 120 new employees. Construction began in May and is projected to be completed by October. In 2012, an additional 5,000 square meters will be added to the shop floor, with further expansions in place.

    LeanLogistics is expanding into Europe with offices in UK and Spain that will provide sales and support for the suite of LeanLogistics technologies. Additionally, CHEP, a global leader in pallet and container pooling, is a LeanLogistics technology customer in North America and is currently implementing LeanLogistics’ On-Demand TMS in Europe to manage inbound and outbound truckload, less-than-truckload and intermodal shipments. CHEP’s 300 million pallets and containers support more than 500,000 customer touch-points globally. LeanLogistics and CHEP are both part of Brambles Ltd.
    Wild Flavors relocated its East China sales and Shanghai flavor creations teams to the Shanghai Juke Biotech Park, utilizing more than 870 square meters of new office and lab space. The relocation allows Wild to be more efficient and effective with its increased focus on the development of natural, nature-identical and artificial flavors utilizing Chinese and Asian profiles in the East China region. Wild Flavors’ (China) state-of-the art flavor compound manufacturing facility is located in Beijing, China, and will continue to be the production center for Asia-Pacific.  

    Hydrosol Produktionsgesellschaft will take over C.C.A. Klimmeck GmbH, as of Oct. 1. With its extensive facilities for applications technology, including trial laboratories, Hydrosol is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of stabilizing systems. The takeover of C.C.A. Klimmeck GmbH is a further step in the extension of its core competences.

    GEA Process Engineering acquired Nu-Con Ltd., Auckland, New Zealand, absorbing its 167 employees with slightly more than half based in New Zealand and the remaining in Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. Nu-Con will be integrated into GEA Process Engineering under the brand name GEA Nu-Con and will be part of the food drying systems strategic business unit, which also includes GEA Niro, GEA Avapac and GEA Colby. The transaction closed in September.

    On June 16, Sidel inaugurated its new Beijing Technical Training Center, a 900-square-meter facility located within the Sidel Beijing Plant. Positioned as the Asia Center of Excellence, the training facility offers both classroom and hands-on training services harnessing state-of-the art interactive technologies and high-tech equipment. The new facility includes blow molding machines, a laboratory with simulation benches for the configuration of standard and aseptic fillers and a Combi automation desk to reproduce machine synchronization requirements. It also features virtual-reality equipment for enhanced interaction.

    BERICAP will open a new facility in Buenos Aires. This new plant, which will manufacture plastic closures, is designed to increase the company’s presence in South America. Production in the plant is scheduled to begin January 2012.


    On the Move: Personnel Changes
    Millwood Inc., Vienna, Ohio
    Ralph Rupert was named manager of unit load technology, responsible for working with local, regional and national sales representatives to develop systems-based unit load designs that will reduce customers’ overall packaging expenses and complement their sustainability initiatives. He will also work with Liberty Technologies’ engineering group on the design of automated materials handling and packaging systems and lead Millwood’s initiative to establish a certified unit load test lab at the corporate technology center to run tests under ASTM and ISTA guidelines.

    Intelligrated Inc., Mason, Ohio
    Michael Snyder was appointed sales engineer for Somerset, N.J., Eastern regional operation. Snyder will be responsible for sales, concepting, estimating, engineering and client relation services. He brings 18 years of material handling experience to his new role. Meanwhile, Bruce Sudler was named senior sales engineer for the Chicago-based Midwest regional operation. Sudler will be responsible for providing sales, concepting, estimating, engineering and client relations services.
     
    Kendall Packaging Corp., Mequon, Wis.
    Mark Werhan joined on as plant manager for the Pittsburg, Kan., facility, responsible for overseeing plant operations, ensuring the achievement of production objectives, maximizing e_ciencies and lowering costs while maintaining high quality standards. Werhan has held various plant management positions over the past 25 years, all of which were within the packaging industry.
