Commercial Creamery Co., a developer and manufacturer of specialty food ingredients, broke ground on the third expansion in three years at its manufacturing and spray-drying facility in Jerome, Idaho. The addition of four new blending bays will boost production capacity to meet increased product demand. Each of the new blenders will be housed in a dedicated blending bay sealed with positive air pressure to prevent cross-contamination of flavors and spices between products.
Philadelphia-based David Michael’s Innovation Roadshow is set for Oct. 6 at Top of the Tower in the company’s hometown. Keynote speaker Phil Lempert, “Today Show” food editor and supermarket guru, will lead a discussion on food product and retailing trends. Representatives from each of David Michael’s locations in China, France and Mexico will outline regional flavors and trends in the global marketplace and their influence on the U.S. food and beverage industries. David Michael’s global technical team will unveil original ideas and new technologies at its Innovative Showcase.
Rosemont, Ill.-based Dairy Management Inc. has combined its www.doitwithdairy.com and www.extraordinarydairy.com Web sites into one spot, www.innovatewithdairy.com. The new site integrates the content of the two sites with relevant nutrition information. DMI is the domestic and international planning and management organization that builds demand for U.S.-produced dairy products on behalf of America’s dairy producers. DMI and international, national, state and regional organizations manage the American Dairy Association, the National Dairy Council and the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
American Sugar Refining Inc., Yonkers, N.Y., completed its acquisition of C&H Sugar Co. Inc. American Sugar Refining is owned by Florida Crystals Corp. and Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida. The addition of C&H will bring American Sugar Refining’s annual capacity to approximately 3 million tons of refined sugar and specialty products. Domino Foods, the sales and marketing arm of American Sugar Refining and Okeelanta Corp., will add C&H® to its brand portfolio that includes the Domino®, Florida Crystals® and Jack Frost® brands.
FONA International Inc., a developer and manufacturer of a full line of quality flavors for the food and beverage industries, recently moved into its new, state-of-the-art worldwide headquarters in Geneva, Ill. All U.S. manufacturing will continue at the Carol Stream, Ill., facility. FONA also launches its new Web site at www.fona.com, offering information on developing technologies, product offerings and Flavor University courses.
Treatt USA purchased 6.5 acres of industrial property adjacent to the company’s existing facility in Lakeland, Fla., for future expansion and development. Treatt supplies ingredients to the flavor and fragrance industries. In other news, Treatt reports it offers three flavor chemicals that have been recently generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association, including 2-Methyl thiopropionate, which can be used for a ripe note in cheese flavors.
