Dairy processors have been in the news lately for making substantial charitable contributions. Turner Dairy Farms, Pittsburgh, is celebrating its 75th anniversary and marking the occasion with a $50,000 donation pledge to Pittsburgh’s Forbes Health Foundation.

Dean Foods, Dallas, and its White Wave Division, a leader in organic products recently donated $100,000 to the Organic Center for Education and Promotion to further advance the efforts of organic agriculture. The organization promotes research aimed at a better understanding of the benefits of organic foods.

Most recently, the Saputo family, founders of Canada’s Saputo Inc., said it will pay $7.5 million, covering about half the cost of the construction of a new soccer complex in Montreal. The complex will host the Montreal Impact soccer team, which is owned in part by Joey Saputo, son of Lino Saputo.
