MONTREAL—Saputo Inc. has completed the transaction for the acquisition of German cheesemaker Spezialitaten-Kaserei De Lucia , which produces Italian cheese specialties such as mozzarella, ricotta and mascarpone.

Spezialitaten-Kaserei De Lucia GmbH employs approximately 60 people at its manufacturing facility located in Heiden, Germany. The company’s revenues in its last fiscal year were approximately Euro 20 million ($25 million US). These assets will complement Saputo’s current activities in Canada, the United States and Argentina, and allow it to enter the European market.
