California Dairy Research Foundation, Davis, Calif.—Southeast Dairy Foods Research Center Director and North Carolina State University Professor Todd Klaenhammer was presented with the William C. Haines Dairy Science Award in recognition of his contribution to the field of dairy science. Dr. Klaenhammer received the award at the 8th Cal Poly Symposium on Advances in Dairy Product Technology in Shell Beach, Calif. this February where he gave a presentation on probiotics.

Baldwin Jr., USMC (Ret.), chairman and CEO of food distributor Balford Farms, will be honored by the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) as the 2006 recipient of the prestigious Globe and Anchor Award for outstanding Leadership and Service to country and community. He will be presented with the award at the group’s 31st Annual Philadelphia Ball.

The Blommer Chocolate Co., Chicago—Jeffery Rasinski and Sheila Fortune join the Commodity Department, East Greenville, Pa. Rasinski joins Blommer as dir. of commodities responsible for purchasing and risk management of sugar, dairy and fats and oils. He brings more than 14 years of commodity purchasing, experience from Dreyers Grand Ice Cream and Masterfoods USA. Fortune joins Blommer as hedge specialist responsible for futures hedging of cocoa exposures. She returns to cocoa after six years in institutional equity brokerage. Fortune worked previously in cocoa trading and brokerage for more than nine years at Lonray and Bear Stearns.
