Marketers promote dairy-based desserts, cheesemakers make a big push heading into Easter and yogurt makers tout the low-fat attributes of their dairy and nondairy foods in this week’s free-standing inserts. Whitewave Foods, ConAgra, Schwan’s, Sorrento and Hormel stand out.
 
ConAgra Foods instructs shoppers to “make berries better with real cream” with its Reddi-wip. The FSI states that the dairy topping has “just 15 calories per serving!”
 
Schwan’s Consumer Brands dangles a $1 coupon for any two-pack SKU of Edwards singles ice cream-based desserts.
 
Whitewave Foods’ promotes two limited-edition International Delight nondairy coffee creamers, one with Hershey’s Almond Joy flavor and the other with Focus Brand’s Cinnabon flavoring. Whitewave, a unit of dairy giant Dean Foods, offers coupons toward the purchase of pint, 24-count box and quart SKUs.


Cheese for Easter

Alouette Cheese USA, a unit of Bongrain SA, France, says “Enjoy this Easter with all natural Aloutette.” It teases the introduction of a Brie cheese and directs shoppers online for recipes. The cheesemaker offers three coupons totaling $2 toward the purchase of spreadable cheese, crumbled cheese and Brie SKUs.
 
Lactailis Retail Dairy’s Sorrento promotes its mozzarella and ricotta cheeses as lasagna ingredients. A 46-page cookbook can be downloaded from the company’s website through May 14. In some markets, a separate FSI directs shoppers to find the products in Supervalu’s Jewel-Osco supermarkets.
 
Sargento states “something amazing happens when two great cheeses come together,” referring to its new natural blends cheeses, uniting provolone with mozzarella and cheddar with mozzarella. In other cheese marketing,
 
Supervalu’s Jewel supermarket promotes Hormel’s DiLusso deli cheeses, offering a $1 coupon toward the purchase of one-half pound of cheese or meat. And the supermarket features Kraft Food’s new Philadelphia cooking crème, directing shoppers to find a $1 coupon in its circular.

AgroFarma’s Chobani offers $1 savings on a four-pack tray of Chobani Champions, a low-fat yogurt developed for children.
Dannon’s Light & Fit yogurt promotes its "Dannon Get Light & Fit Together Game" awarding a $5,000 shopping spree in New York City. Players enter an on-pack code online from April 4 to June 27. The two grand prizes (valued at $13,000 each) consist of transportation to New York, two-night’s hotel accommodations, five-hour use of a limousine for a shopping spree, a helicopter tour of the city, a $1,000 meal allowance (awarded as a check made out in the winner’s name), one $2,500 shopping gift card for the winner and one $2,500 shopping gift card for a friend. Forty first prizes consist of two $500 gift cards for winners and their friends.
GFA Brands offers savings to $3.50 on its Smart Balance fat-free milk with omega-3s and buttery spread.
Whitewave encourages shoppers to "Switch to Silk and say goodbye to milk" and go online for recipes. The FSI shows the company’s "Silk for Milk 10-day challenge" logo.
