DCI Cheese Co., which acquired Green Bay Cheese Co. earlier this year, plans to consolidate its cheese processing operations, closing a plant in Mayville, Wis., and expanding another in Suamico, Wis.

Layoffs were expected to begin in mid-January through March. Fairmount Food Group owns DCI Cheese. Based in Richfield, Wis., DCI markets several brands including Black Diamond, Great Midwest, Salemville, Black River, Auricchio Americano, Timber Lake and Organic Creamery.
