Concord, N.H., HP Hood plant receives SHARP certification

The HP Hood milk plant in Concord, N.H., received SHARP certification. This plant is the only dairy producer in New Hampshire and one of fewer than 10 businesses in the state to achieve this designation.

SHARP, which stands for Safety Health Achievement Recognition Program, is a cooperative with OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It awarded employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system.

“The employees of Concord should be proud of their safety achievement,” said Mike Anderson, plant manager for HP Hood LLC, which is headquartered in Lynnfield, Mass. “The plant is successful today because the employees have a genuine buy-in of the benefits of a well-run, well-supported safety program.”

“We are successful and safe because each and every one of the employees in Concord is committed to maintaining a safely run plant,” said Tom Wertman, regional environmental health and safety manager.

HP Hood has been committed to supporting local dairy farmers in New Hampshire for more than 100 years. By achieving SHARP certification at the Concord plant, Hood has demonstrated its commitment to safety in the dairy business as well.

Besides the Concord fluid milk plant, HP Hood also has several other locations that have achieved SHARP status, including fluid milk plants in Portland, Maine, and Barre, Vt., a cultured products plant in Arkport, N.Y., and two Heluva Good! plants in Sodus and Wolcott, N.Y.

Money can buy anything, just ask Tom Wertman he has been paying Hoods way for years with his ill behaviour and lying and cheating ways.
