ATLANTA—Sucralose, which is becoming ever more popular as a non-nutritive sweetener for dairy products, has come under scrutiny from some consumers and in particular from a website launched by sugar producers which questions the ingredient’s health profile (truthaboutsplenda.com).

So now an industry group representing makers of artificial sweeteners has launched its own site, sucralose.org, which it says will dispel rumors and give objective scientific information about the sweetener.

The council was established in 1966 as a non-profit association representing the low-calorie and reduced-fat food and beverage industry.
