At the recently concluded Membrane Technology Forum 2025, held June 2–4 in Bloomington, Minn., Gladbeck, Germany-based atech innovations gmbh and Helmond, Netherlands-based X-PORE CEPAration B.V. presented new advancements in membrane filtration technology for the food and dairy sectors.

In addition to atech innovation's well-known ceramic membranes, the centerpiece of their showcase was the launch of the world’s first commercially available multi-channel stainless steel sintered metal membranes, made by X-PORE CEPAration, the company stated.

These membranes are made from porous stainless steel tubes, sintered and coated with a specialized ceramic layer. This unique construction provides strong chemical, thermal, and mechanical resistance, making them particularly well-suited for demanding applications in food and dairy processing.

X-PORE’s membrane range includes mono-channel as well as 7- and 19-channel multi-channel designs, with pore size of 0.1 µm and filtration areas up to 3.28 m² per module. Thanks to their welded, gasket-free design, the membranes deliver reliability, long service life and a compact system footprint with high-quality flux performance.

For the dairy industry, these innovations offer new efficiencies in processes such as protein concentration, with minimized maintenance and operational downtime.

atech recently acquired a 50% stake in X-PORE CEPAration. X-PORE CEPAration will continue its operations from its headquarters in Helmond, while atech innovations will take responsibility for sales, marketing and application engineering.
