Business Development Manager - Membranes, Alfa Laval, Inc.
Michael Ballard had spent over 16+ years dedicated to the membrane separation industry with a focus in polymeric-based membranes for use in industrial and life science applications. He has worked across several functions ranging from R&D and product development, technical support, to sales and business development. Michael enjoys working with customers on developing applications that utilize the benefits of membrane technology to produce an economical and value-added solution for the customer.
Alfa Laval is a global leader in separation technology for the polymeric-based membrane market. Offering an array of application development pilot equipment, which includes spiral and plate & frame configurations, is critical for end users to be able to develop a process in the most effective and economical manner utilizing membrane technology. This presentation will focus on the development phases of taking an application and applying it to membrane technology through the use of pilot testing. It will showcase the importance of using test equipment as proof of concept before scaling up to a full-sized commercial plant. The presentation will go into detail regarding when it is appropriate to consider a spiral membrane pilot test over plate and frame, as both have benefits depending on the application and overall objective of the final product.
