Dr. Liu has 22-year experience in membrane field. He obtained his Ph. D in ChE from U Toledo in 2000. After that, he joined Koch Membrane Systems (KMS) as a product development engineer. During his 17-year tenure, he gained a breadth of experience in membrane development, manufacturing, membrane spiral design and optimization, membrane evaluation and process modeling. Dr. Liu joined LFC since 2017 and has developed extensive experience and expertise in dairy membrane applications. He has thorough understandings on dairy membrane processes, challenge and limitations of current membrane technologies as well as the opportunities for future innovation.
Opportunities for Membrane Innovation in Dairy Applications
Membrane technologies have been the heart and soul of our dairy business. In the past few years, we initiated a program to identify the best performer for each of our membrane applications (MF, UF, RO, NF, brine UF) by evaluating membranes available in the market. Until today, we have placed the best performers for each of our applications. During the evaluation, we also identified the opportunities that membrane suppliers could make further improvements and have big impacts on performance of its membrane products. In this presentation, the findings and opportunities will be discussed.
