The past year has been a rollercoaster ride for the cheese category. While the COVID-19 pandemic drastically reduced demand for cheese in foodservice, the category's growth at retail was extensive, notes Kelly Slentz, associate brand manager, cheese for La Farge, Wis.-based Organic Valley.

Old Amsterdam Cheese, a brand of Westland Cheese Company, Huizen, Netherlands, said it debuted two new flavors: Old Amsterdam Mild and Old Amsterdam Reserve.
Amersfoort, Netherlands-based FrieslandCampina added Frico Grab & Go Snacks under its Frico Gouda cheese brand. The company said the cheese snacks meet growing consumer demand for better-for-you on-the-go products for lunch, snacking and convenience.
