BelGioioso Cheese won six awards at the United States Championship Cheese Contest. ItsSharp Provolone Mandarino won a  First Place, Best of Class Gold Medal.



BelGioioso Cheese, Green Bay, Wis.,earned six distinguished awards at the United States Championship Cheese Contest held in Green Bay earlier this month. More than 30,000 pounds of cheese were entered into the contest.

The company won a First Place, Best of Class Gold Medalfor its Sharp Provolone Mandarino, made with local fresh whole cows milk. The cheesemakers mold the traditional Mandarino shape out of the stretched curd and finish by hand-tying, waxing and stamping with the BelGioioso logo. The cheese is allowed to mature for a minimum of seven months for a sharp, piquant flavor.

BelGioioso Cheese also won a First Place, Best of Class Gold Medal for its Romano, Second Place Medals for Fresh Mozzarella and Ricotta Salata and Third Place medals for Crema di Mascarpone and Mild Provolone.
