Dairy processing news: Fal Foods opens a plant in New York; Mayfield Dairy wins top honors
Unilever’s Breyers started offering 36 gluten-free ice cream varieties this month.
Fal Foods USA opened a manufacturing plant in Queens, New York to produce DF Mavens nondairy desserts. The $3 million, 8,800-square-foot, building includes office space and storage. Fal Foods USA consists of DF Mavens (dairy-free ice cream), Desserts that Matter (a wholesale ice cream manufacturer) and Brazilia Café (a global café chain serving select coffee from its own farm in Brazil).
Unilever’s Breyers, Englewood Cliffs, N.J., started offering 36 gluten-free ice cream varieties in May. The products will feature a "gluten-free" claim consistent with the FDA's rule on gluten-free labeling and an on-pack gluten-free logo.
