Expansion plans for ABF Ingredients; RockTenn partners with DS Smith; Pro Mach acquires Federal Manufacturing
ABF Ingredients is building a plant for its PGP International business in Evansville, Ind. The 70,000-square-foot-facility will expand the company’s production capacity and capability for specialty food ingredients and additives. Work will being in the fourth quarter of 2012, and production is expected to begin in summer 2013. ABF said the investment is greater than $16 million.
“The new facility increases our production capacity, a need we anticipate based on strong growth in recent years. It will protect us and our customers by providing a back-up for our California plant, and extends our current capabilities to new product lines. Being in Evansville will also put us closer to customers in the eastern and midwestern United States,” said PGP International CEO Nicolas Hanson.
RockTenn and DS Smith Plc signed a licensing agreement that gives RockTenn the exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute proprietary corrugated packaging designs and to distribute packaging equipment in the United States.
The new Meta technology produces a wide range of two-piece shelf-ready packages that enable multinational package goods companies to meet the varied requirements of U.S. retailers. Unique predictive software and stacking devices also optimize and reduce packaging weight and minimize environmental impact, according to a press release.
