Summer memories have barely had time to fade, but Orrville,
Ohio-based Smith Dairy already is set to launch a new flavor of
eggnog for the upcoming holiday season.
Moovers® English Toffee Eggnog is a
combination of premium eggnog enhanced with a buttery toffee
flavoring. “We have had great success with our seasonal
eggnog products over the past five years,” says Bill McCabe,
vice president of marketing. “We wanted to develop a unique
flavor that would complement our existing line and generate
incremental sales.”
Trends indicate that eggnog sales are on the
rise. Nationally, the percent change in per capita sales of eggnog
has increased since 2000, as reported in IDFA Milk Facts 2003. The
compound annual growth rate over the past four years is 7.61
percent.
The package design for English Toffee Eggnog
features a colorful illustration of a friendly snowman, complete
with carrot nose and decked out in holiday attire. The label on the
30-ounce package also provides room for a recipe for eggnog muffins
as well as other eggnog uses for holiday festivities.
“Seasonal packaging and products like
eggnog spark retail sales,” says McCabe. “Our seasonal
Santa and Mrs. Claus package designs have proven to encourage
