McGill University Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Dean Dr. Chandra Madramootoo is pleased to announce the Montreal-based school will be organizing a second Conference on Global Food Security on Oct. 5-7, 2009.

Last year’s initial conference was very successful, with more than 425 attendees from 25 countries. Global food security is of great concern and interest to people of all nations.  McGill University Principal and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Heather Munroe-Blum has established the study of food security as a University priority, and along with Marilyn Knox, president of Nestle Nutrition Canada, will co- chair this year’s Conference.  The theme will be “Impacts of Global Financial Turmoil on Food Security.”
