The Institute of Food Systems at Cornell University is pleased to offer a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) /Food Safety Systems Workshop for the dairy processing industry, January 27-28, 2015 in Ithaca, NY. This workshop is designed to provide comprehensive instruction on the development of HACCP based food safety programs for dairy operations that should apply to juice and other foods as well. It will provide practical information, forms and exercises designed to enhance HACCP and other food safety systems. Throughout the course, the relationship of traditional HACCP concepts with the proposed Preventative Controls rule under FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) will be discussed; interpretation of the proposed rule implies that companies will be required to have food safety programs in place that are in-line with traditional HACCP concepts (please note – the rule is not yet final).
For Grade “A” Dairy processors, this course will meet the core training requirements of the NCIMS Voluntary HACCP Program. FDA Juice HACCP requirements applicable to operations that process juice will be covered as appropriate. Successful completion of this workshop should provide attendees with the tools necessary to build new or update outdated HACCP/Food Safety Programs. It should also serve as a foundation for the Global Food Safety Initiative’s 3rd party certification schemes such as SQF, BRC & FSSC 22000. SQF examples will be provided. A full agenda for the workshop is included in this mailing.
Preregistration is Required. Enrollment is limited to 30 participants. The early registration fee is $500 per person for NY companies and $600 for those out-of-state. Registration fees paid after January 12 will be higher. Materials, breaks and lunches are included. On-line registration requires that each attendee complete the form.
Beginning January 2015 – in keeping with our University policies, we will be accepting credit card payment(s) only. We do understand that this may cause some problems with a few companies, so for those companies, requests for invoicing must be sent to Louise Felker, lmf226@cornell.edu (phone: 607-255-7098) upon registering for the course.
Due to high course popularity/demand, we have also changed our confirmation of attendance process. Registration will continue to be offered on-line via our website; however, beginning
January 2015 – we will be instituting the following confirmation of registration practice:
- Once a registration is received, an e-mail will be sent to the registrant confirming receipt of registration, and will include payment instructions/payment link. Confirmation of attendance will not be made until payment is received. Payments must be received 2 weeks prior to the course date. Once payment is received (by payment deadline), registrants will receive an e-mail confirmation of attendance.
- Prior to the payment deadline, e-mail notification(s)/reminders to unpaid registrants will be sent. If payment is still not received for those registrants by the deadline (or they have not communicated intent to pay), those spots will be released and opened to individuals on our wait list.
We hope that with this new system in place, we will be better equipped to accommodate the greatest number of attendees.
