Le MARS, Iowa-Wells' Dairy has recently joined a collaborative logistics network for transportation management, allowing it to automate many of its existing transportation planning and execution processes.

The Nistevo Web-hosted transportation management system (TMS), is provided by Nistevo Inc., Eden Prairie, Minn., through the Nistevo Network.

Wells' subscribed to the service in October of last year.

"When we first started looking at replacing our existing LTL optimizer software and migrating to Oracle's solution for order management, our business requirements called for more flexible transportation support that was easily integrated," said Dave Ott, director of transportation for Wells' Dairy. "We quickly realized that Nistevo offered the robust optimization we required, and additional functionality that we could also leverage including online contract management, load tendering and dock scheduling capabilities within the same system. Nistevo addressed our immediate transportation needs, and so much more."

The network has allowed Wells' to convert less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments to more cost-effective full-truckloads and optimize its routes and carrier use for improved efficiencies.

The multi-year agreement enables Wells' Dairy to plan and execute shipments from each of its plants using the Nistevo Network. Approximately a third of Wells' Dairy's orders will be consolidated from LTL to full truckload shipments using Nistevo's optimization capabilities.
