    Labeling Showcase

    August 1, 2010

Rollsleeve is Sidel’s rotary labeler equipped with an ergonomically designed, robust and precise linear labeling station. It is used for shrink sleeve labels and offers customization, consumer information and cost savings on film. Rollsleeve combines the simplicity of its consolidated roll-fed technology with an innovative shrink sleeve process for high-speed applications. This machine is designed to make full-body sleeves from machine-direction orientation film with no need for glue or solvents.

Mimaki’s CJV30 series is an integrated print/cut system that automatically prints and contour cuts without any in-between steps. It is available in four printing widths and is designed for a wide variety of applications, including labels, seals, stickers, signage, point-of-purchase and poster production. These printers are fully loaded with high-performance features and bundled software that produces vibrant color and flawless print quality. For example, white and full-color printing can be performed simultaneously with an Uninterrupted Ink Supply System (UISS) for greater productivity.

FOX IV Technologies has released the TwinPrint Tabletop, which uses the Xi4 print engine from Zebra Technologies. The TwinPrint Tabletop looks and functions like a traditional tabletop label printer, complete with serial and Ethernet communication ports and embedded fonts and languages. The system features silk-screened media paths for easy loading of media, a convenient fan-fold label docking station with capacity of more than 1,100 6x8-inch labels and intuitive displays for fast-menu hopping. Plus, it produces 58% less material than standard one-sided label stock with every printed label. MatchMaker software is available to ensure that the shipping label and packing slip information match every time, eliminating embarrassing shipping headaches and costly charge-backs.

Printpack prints shrink and roll-fed labels, tamper-evident bands and heat shrinkable sleeves for multipacks in up to 10 colors using flexographic and rotogravure printing. For example, ZN brain-boosting energy drink from Fuzzee Bee Beverage Co. is packaged in a unique patent-protected rocket-shaped bottle decorated with a shrink sleeve label. The all black background makes a strong visual impact leading customers to associate the bottle with the brand. The label is printed on Pure Affinia PETG, enabling the label to shrink to the curves of the bottle, which tapers more than 75% at the top.

MRI Flexible Packaging has introduced a lineup of enhanced recyclable labels that offer up to 30% elasticity, can be used for low/med shrink applications, lowers energy usage on production lines and comes in white or clear tear-away film. Additionally, these economical and safe labels are designed for squeezable bottles and don’t require any glue or heat tunnels for application.
