New hires at Dean Foods, Sargento and Westby Cooperative

Dean Foods Co. named Ralph Scozzafava to executive vice president and chief operating officer effective Oct. 1. He joined Dean Foods in October 2014 as EVP and chief commercial officer.  Scozzafava will continue to report directly to CEO Gregg Tanner.

Sargento Foods Inc. hired Gerald Cox as consumer insights manager. In this role, Cox will support new platform development and be responsible for conducting consumer research on new product initiatives. He comes from Procter & Gamble.

Westby Cooperative Creamery hired Travis L. Anderson as lab supervisor. He supervises a staff of 10 which performs dozens of lab analysis and quality assurance protocols. The lab also provides new product research and development services for retail, foodservice and dairy ingredient customers of the business.

CDI fires up its third evaporator in Visalia, Calif.

California Dairies Inc. commissioned a new evaporator at its Visalia, Calif., plant. The third one at the plant, it can produce low-spore nonfat dry milk and skim milk powder, in addition to high heat, heat stable and low-spore milk powders for UHT application.
