Anuga, the world’s largest food fair, took place Oct. 5 to 9 in Cologne, Germany. The biennial show pulled together 10 food segments in one location. The segments included dairy, drinks, organic, chilled and fresh food and fine food.

New dairy foods seen at the show included several cheese products, including a lactose-free mozzarella ball from Züger Frischkäse AG and Schlierbacher’s organic soft cheeses. Unique ice cream concepts included Kar Kar bubble gum ice cream with sour sweet raspberry coating. New yogurt products included Vilvi functional yogurts and Greco Greek strained yogurt from Routhier. (To learn more about these and other new dairy products featured at the show, see our coverage under www.dairyfoods.com/EatDrinkDairy, international dairy products.)

Anuga organizers identified 10 trends seen throughout the 10 segments. They were finger food; gourmet products and regional specialties; Halal food; health and functional food; ingredients; Kosher products; organic products; private label; vegetarian products; and products based on fair trade. Exhibitors are listed in an online database that can be sorted by trend theme.
